Children learn differently.
Children learn in different ways. Some need to move, some like to watch first, and some need an idea explained a different way. We get to know what helps each child participate and learn.

The Kingston way
Children learn in different ways. Some need to move, some like to watch first, and some need an idea explained a different way. We get to know what helps each child participate and learn.
Building, pretending, experimenting, moving, and talking with others give children ways to make sense of the world. Teachers bring purpose and guidance to those experiences.
Children are more ready to explore when they feel safe, connected, and understood. We take time each day to listen, offer comfort, and build trust.
Small accomplishments can mean a lot to a child. We give children chances to make choices, manage small tasks, ask for help, and feel proud of their effort.
Preparing for school leaves plenty of room for imagination, laughter, messy art, music, and play. Learning and joy belong together.
You know your child best. Tell us what you’re noticing, what’s changing at home, and what matters to your family. Communication goes both ways.
Early literacy and math matter. So do confidence, communication, resilience, curiosity, creativity, independence, and friendship. We plan for all of them.
Every child is an individual
Children bring different temperaments, communication styles, sensory preferences, and learning needs. Age is one part of the picture; we also consider each child’s strengths, interests, and development.
Teachers use observation, familiar routines, relationships, and conversations with families to understand what helps a child participate. We’ll talk honestly with you about your child’s needs and the support available at Kingston.
Developmentally appropriate practice means choosing experiences and expectations that make sense for a child’s age and development, while leaving room for individual differences.
Meet the DirectorOur daily routine
Our preschool day includes classroom activities, outdoor play, meals, and rest. Familiar routines help children know what comes next, while teachers adjust activities to the group’s needs.
Infants follow individual feeding, sleep, and care routines.
